Lawn Bowls
The Caulfield Grammarians’ Lawn Bowls Club participates in social matches against the alumni of other APS schools and members of the Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) Lawn Bowls Section on Wednesdays (11am to 2pm) during the summer season that runs from September to March.
These matches are played on the MCC’s greens in Hawthorn (either Swinburne Avenue or Glen Street). The Club also enters a team in the Annual APS Past Students’ Lawn Bowls Tournament that is held at the Glen Waverley Lawn Bowls Club on a Sunday towards the end of the season (late March / early April).
Caulfield has won the APS Past Students’ Bowls Tournament on a number of occasions, our most recent win being in 2017. In 2026, we will be the host school, responsible for organising the event in conjunction with the Glen Waverley Bowls Club. Teams of 12 bowlers (four rinks of three players) compete in three games of two-bowl triples during the day. Although these matches are always played in a friendly spirit, they are a little more competitive than our social matches and most of the participants are experienced bowlers.
Players of any standard are most welcome to join us for our social games. In addition to Grammarians, parents or grandparents of Grammarians or current Caulfield students, and past or present CGS staff members, are eligible to join the CGA team. If you would like to play at any time throughout the season, please contact Ian Wilkinson at the CGA (ianwilkinson@caulfieldgs.vic.edu.au).
